LA LOCALITA'
Torre de' Busi, territorialmente parlando, è il comune più vasto della Val S. Martino.
L'insediamento abitativo diviso in più località sparse occupa solo una piccola parte, mentre il resto è costituito da zone boscose e montane rimaste inalterate.
Una di queste è Casarola, che si distingue per i fabbricati rurali di bella forma, integrati con l'ambiente naturale antropizzato a terrazzamenti un tempo interamente coltivati a vigneto.

Il nucleo di Casarola, posto lungo il percorso di una antica mulattiera, è dominato da un grande edificio con pianta a U la cui parte più antica è da attribuire al '400, poi adattato a fine '600, un tempo residenza della nobile famiglia locale dei Fracassetti.
Oggi appare come una villa fortificata munita di torre ed è conosciuto come Castello Fracassetti.
E' proprio dal magnifico paesaggio soleggiato, verdeggiante e tranquillo in cui si radica l'antico borgo Casarola, che nasce la possibilità di una riqualifica delle preesistenze tramite la ristrutturazione del Castello Fracassetti e il riutilizzo dei rustici, da adibire ad uso residenziale, in spontaneo connubio tra storia e natura.
THE SETTING
Torre de' Busi is the most extensive municipality of St. Martino Valley. Its housing settlement is made up of several sites which occupy just a small part of the territory, while the rest of the area is montanious and full of natural forests.
One of these sites, Casarola, is distinguished by rustic buildings made of local stone, well-integrated with a terraced environment once used as vineyards.
The farmhouses are characterized by their simple structure and stone walls and they are situated near a small ancient chapel dedicated to St. Simone.
Casarola's setting, once along an ancient hillside path used for transport, has always contained a large U-shaped building whose oldest part goes back to the 1400s, then adapted in the 1600s and was once the abode of the noble Fracassetti family (hence the name Fracassetti's Castle).
Today, it looks like a fortified villa equipped with a tower.
Thanks to the magnificently sunny, green and quiet landscape in which the ancient village of Casarola is set, there is the possibility of improving the pre-existing rural buildings for residential use, creating a pleasing union between history and nature.
